Medicine Bow is a charming town in Wyoming with a very small population. Based in the southern part of the state, Medicine Bow is actually only about an hour north of Boulder, Colorado. And while the town itself might be tiny, there are plenty of opportunities to get into nature and explore the areas surrounding Medicine Bow since the national forest of the same name is nearby. Let’s take a look at three nearby trails that are perfect for getting outdoors near Medicine Bow.

1. Libby Creek Trail, Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest

This scenic trail is just about three miles in and out. While it’s best to explore during the warmer months, don’t be surprised if you see some snow on the ground!

You’ll get to see a little bit of everything on this hike. This includes a flowing river, loads of greenery, and local wildlife.

2. Crater Lake Trail, Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest

Be prepared to have your jaw literally drop when you come across the view of the crater on this trail.

As you stroll along the trail, make sure to have your camera ready to go. This way, you won’t miss the chance to capture the local residents checking you out.

3. Corner Mountain Loop Trail, Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest

The trailhead is about a 90-minute ride from Medicine Bow.

You’ll get to enjoy meandering through the forest as you hike this 2.7-mile looped trail.
